For those who need a few conversions but don't want to buy a whole app, CodeAutomat could be very helpful indeed. PaintCode - Vector drawing app that generates Objective-C or Swift code in real time. But the service is super easy to use, and works with any SVG file - just plug it in and play. I am creating a button that uses an SVG as a background (xam.svg on android and Mntone.SvgForXaml on UWP is what i use to get the SVG to actually display and paintcode is what I will use for IOS). Now, PaintCode's price is $99.99 ( on the Mac App Store now), so if you're converting a lot of graphics, you might want to splurge for the whole app. Paintcode android code I have code that sets the bindable WidthAndHeight property on the PCL view after i find out the dimensions on the screen. ![]() ![]() I was wondering if anyone had any tips on converting 100+ SVG icons on Sketch. Then, start Paint.NET and now you should be able to import files with the SVG extension in your canvas. All you need to do is upload your SVG file on the site (you can even drag and drop it in), and then for a small charge (starting at US$4.99), the browser-based app will turn your graphic into code, using PaintCode's formula. I love the ease of use on PaintCode Sketch plugin, but it seems to support. CodeAutomat is a new service, from the same developers, that's designed to make SVG-to-code conversion as easy as possible. There are a few different ways to do this, but it turns out that PaintCode (which Erica wrote about earlier this year) is the solution we're going with - it's an app that will fairly easily convert scalable vector graphics into Objective-C code, which iOS can then use to draw out a user interface for a touch-based app.Īnd it just so happens that just as I found their app, the folks behind PaintCode have released a brand new product. I'm currently working on developing an iOS app in conjunction with a graphic designer, and because my design skills are pretty terrible, we set out to look for a solution to turn the scalable vector graphics (SVGs) he's designed into Objective-C code snippets I can insert directly in the app. ![]()

8bit drummer undertale chime remix3/10/2023 ![]() ![]() It's a mental trick your brain plays on you as you become increasingly familiar with a pattern, it becomes easier to spot the pattern. Remember, when you work a long time on a track (especially when mixing), it's really easy for you to hear something you already know about than it is for someone who doesn't know what's coming to hear it. The new ending is better than a fade out, but it still feels anticlimactic. On it's own, the chiptune-melody at 1:48 sounds pretty good, but I'm worried the orchestra under it has the same problems that it does at 0:32, and I can't hear it because of how loud the melody is mixed. The half-step compromise doesn't sound as good. I suggest you have the instruments that could realistically slide pitch do so, or cut out the half-step and just have a whole step there. I assume you're doing this because everyone who made a midi of this song wrote it for piano? The half-steps don't sound anywhere near as good as the pitch-shift did in the original. And the drum kit that comes in is mixed very quietly, and could use some compression to make it punchier.Īt 1:02 and 1:18, you've taken a part that was originally a pitch-shift, and transcribed it into half-steps. Or maybe everything else is being delayed with an overuse of reverb? I can't hear anything underneath the melody. The trumpet seems to be playing everything early? And the strings at 0:56. I still think the drums at 0:15 could be mixed louder, and possibly be more bassy?Īt 0:24, when when tuba comes in to start playing the main motif, I think some new instruments should play over the strings for variation's sake.Ġ:32 - 1:20 sounds extremely messy. ![]() Why the fade-out ending? It's disappointing, you should have a climax instead. The chimes at 1:31 are too dry and loud compared to the rest of the orchestra. I think ~1:26 could have more interesting chords, it seems to just be octaves now. I can't really comment on the orchestra until 1:20 - it just sounds like mud underneath your chiptune sound. Frankly, I think you should just get rid of it up until 1:47, and probably change it's tone too. It's very dry, whereas the orchestra has lots of reverb, and it seems off pitch? It's tone clashes with the entire orchestra. It doesn't mix together with the orchestra at all. The chiptune aspect of it sounds extremely bad, sorry. The drums at 0:16 are mixed too quietly to have much of an impact, to me it feels like a waste of their potential, just having them in the background. Was 0:12 supposed to have a dissonance? I ask because it didn't really feel like an appropriate place to have a dissonance. ![]()

Super mario enemies3/10/2023 ![]() Jugemu isn’t the only enemy to get its name from this story, as we’ll see soon.Īlso, I’m fairly certain that in the English version of Super Mario 3 they accidentally keep the name “Jugem” in. You can also see a portion of the story acted out in English here: Jugemu-jugemu Gokonosurikire Kaijarisuigyo-no Suigyomatsu Unraimatsu Furaimatsu Kunerutokoroni-sumutokoro Yaburakojino-burakoji Paipopaipo-paiponoshuringan Shuringanno-gurindai Gurindaino-ponpokopino-ponpokonano Chokyumeino-chosuke In it, some parents want to come up with a name for a baby, but they can’t decide on one, so the kid ends up with a crazy-long name: I always, always wondered what the heck was up with this Japanese name, and apparently it comes from an old Japanese rakugo folk tale. In Japanese, this evil enemy is called “Jugemu”, and was officially romanized as “Jugem” in later Japanese games. It should’ve been called a “Koopa Troopa Shell” or something like that instead, but it sounds like the translation had been mostly handled by Square rather than NOA. I was just reminded by a reader that there are “Nok Nok Shells” in Super Mario RPG – so if you’ve always wondered what was up with that name, this explains it. That said, I can’t tell which one I like better, they have amusing names in both languages! Coming up with something completely original but still somewhat humorous was an excellent decision. I think the localizers did a good job here – trying to fit onomatopoeia (sound effect word) or something like that into an English version would’ve been disastrous. “Koopa” being their tribe/species name, and “Troopa” being a play on the word “trooper”. In the American version, they’re called “Koopa Troopas”. In this sense, the idea of wandering around nonchalantly fits them well. In Japanese, this walking turtle enemy is called a “Noko-noko”, which is a Japanese term for going somewhere or doing something without much care. ![]()

Bitwarden vs keepassxc3/10/2023 ![]() ![]() Bloated? How? UpNote, my favorite (non-subscription!) most beautiful Obsidian alternative is also Electron and I find it a joy to use. I was a little concerned about it being an Electron app after all of the crazy negative reviews, but after using it for 6 months I honestly do not understand the hate. I hate that I sound like a shill for the company, but please prove me wrong, I beg you. I for one really hate subscriptions and try to avoid them like the plague, but this is one of only 3 subscriptions (aside from iCloud+ 200GB & Inoreader Pro RSS service) that I feel is worth the price. Out of all these solutions, Bitwarden was the closest alternative though it doesn’t have nearly the polish that 1PW has. The app is so darn beautiful, I’ll take a line from Steve Jobs and say “you’ll want to lick it”.īitwarden, StrongBox, Dashlane, enPass, LastPass and a few others (including a new Mac only one someone on MPU mentioned recently. I wish I didn’t have to give them my money but there’s no denying it – 1Password 8 is the best password manager so far. Their actions to their core loyal user base has been hostile and some of their customer service have smug/arrogant attitude against their customers. With that said, I cannot ****ing stand AgileBits as a company. I get downvoted every time I say this, but I have tried all of the alternatives and nothing, and I mean nothing, comes to 1Password. The workaround if you want to use other browsers and have autofill is to use KeePassXC. At this stage Strongbox on the Mac only has autofill on Safari because it uses the built in Safari extension. I would think if you are a 1Password user auto fill is an essential requirement. Incidentally the Kee Pass format theoretically offers great flexibility, but in practice it does not exist because there is only a couple of viable clients available on the Mac. Strongbox is not in the same league as 1Password but it does offer local database storage, the open source Kee Pass format, and a once off lifetime payment if you want to avoid a subscription (also a free version). ![]() The Mac OS App is serviceable but it needs more work. I think the iOS Strongbox App is terrific, on any basis, but particularly so coming from a small development team. ![]() Notwithstanding the above, I am still dabbling with Strongbox. For a user in the Apple orbit most password managers do not match the integration across browsers that 1Password has been able to achieve. 1Password has had a long runway of development and probably greater resources applied to the challenges of App development compared to many of its competitors. ![]() I am trying to be objective here, but it is just my opinion, … I really doubt the overhead of transition away from 1Password merits whatever the countervailing benefits are perceived to be. Consequently, no matter how superficially easy the transition to another password manager was there are subtle adjustments to workflows and time need to discover the quirks of a new app and workarounds if required. I also ran into the problem that having worked with 1Passwords for many years I had a built in expectation of how things work. I had a random walk through many of the better known names and unreasonable as it is I was repulsed by some of the interfaces and more than few apps were tossed aside on this fickle assesement. I discovered a heck of a lot of password makers to choose from and a dearth of really insightful independent reviews. After 4 to 5 months on this, my thoughts, … Unlike some, I didn’t have a visceral dislike of subscriptions, or a particularly great desire for a local database store, but I had a sense that 1Password had become a bit bloated and I worried the new business model was about being all things to all people. The latest iteration of 1Password triggered a project for me to find a viable alternative for this App which I have used for many years. ![]()

The Amazon Alexa service has undergone rapid iteration and development over its first five years and is poised to continue to make significant progress in the areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence.ĭave Isbitzki, Chief Evangelist for Alexa at Amazon, often likes to talk about how Alexa has helped to usher in the era of voice-first, ubiquitous computing. Certain Alexa devices like the Echo Show also have covers that can shut off access to the cameras. This can be achieved in the Alexa app, on the web, and on select Echo Show devices. Here, users can review and delete voice recordings, set limits and permissions on what data Amazon can collect, and get a better understanding of how their data is being used. John jones nutty putty3/9/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() "It had tight squeezes that opened up into a big room, then back to another tight squeeze. Jones’s body was close to the ceiling, collapsed with detonators, and the opening hole was sealed off with cement to avoid further entry."Traditionally, these types of caves are very complex and feature lots of domes and three-dimensional passages, which was true of Nutty Putty," says Paulson. The property owner and Jones’ family decided that the cave would be completely sealed off with his body within as a remembrance to Jones after rescuers decided it would be too risky to try to recover his body. Jones eventually experienced cardiac arrest as a result of the stress his body experienced from being pressed and flipped over for many hours. Once a pulley failed in the middle of the emergency rescue, a sizable group of rescuers arrived to help, but they were still unable to bring Jones back using an intricate rope-and-pulley structure. Jones had become stuck upside-down in an area measuring 10 by 18 inches (25 by 46 cm), roughly 400 feet (120 m) from the cave’s entry, after confusing a thin tunnel with the likewise narrow “Birth Canal” passageway while discovering new with his brother.īecause of the curves in his body, Jones was kept motionless like a hook and could not move without risking himself. John Edward Jones (Janu– November 25, 2009) was trapped in the cave for 28 hours on November 24, 2009, during which time he became stuck and eventually passed away there. But he soon realized he had made a serious error. He located what he believed to be the Birth Canal and wriggled his way into the constricting space head first while propelling himself forward with his fingers, lower body, and stomach. Around an hour into the caving voyage, John made the choice to locate the Birth Canal, a narrow passage that daring cavers must cautiously crawl across. The strategy did not work out as expected. He had returned to Utah to see his family and enjoy some restful vacation time. He was a Virginia medical student who was married to a 1-year-old baby girl. John was at the top form of his life at the age of 26. The number of visitors to the cave was approximated to be over 5,000 annually, with many of them frequently accessing the cave late at night and without taking the necessary safety procedures.Īlso Read: Dungarvon Whooper: The Legend of A Unfortunate Cook Scouts and cave divers were saved from the close twists, turns, and slithers of this cave four times prior to 2009.Īn attempt was made in 2006 to conduct studies and severely restrict the number of people permitted within the cave. ![]() It has 1,400 feet (430 meters) of conveyors and passageways, and it was previously accessible through a tiny surface hole. Green wanted to call it “Silly Putty,” but ultimately chose “Nutty Putty” because it sounded better. The title of the cave system refers to the clay that lines a number of its passageways and has a gentle, putty-like surface. The cave, which Dale Green and companions first investigated in 1960, is now purchased by the Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration and is run by the Utah Timpanogos Grotto. Nutty Putty, a cave known for its tight spaces and once a favorite among cavers, has been off-limits to the general public since 2009 as a result of a deadly accident that year.
